Before being divided into north and south, Caloocan was once composed of more districts including Balintawak, Novaliches and La Loma. In 1939, when Quezon City was formed, several districts were turned over to the new city as a sign of goodwill. In 1949, legislative action further redefined the boundary between Caloocan and Quezon City, which eventually led to the bisection of Caloocan between north and south.
